TOKO AMONG FRIENDS is a Copenhagen-based architectural studio
- shaping moods, memories, and the subtle choreography of life itself

Combining a multitude of disciplines from architecture, bespoke interiors and product design, we are constantly looking to create spaces and objects that brim with character and soul

Toko among friends is an architecture and bespoke design company founded in 2020 by Linda Korndal

At TOKO AMONG FRIENDS, we are dedicated to enhancing and enchanting the moments that matter most. Guided by curiosity, we shape more than just spaces—we shape moods, memories, and the
subtle choreography of life itself. Each design begins with wonder: about the people who will live, work, and dream within our creations, and about the stories these spaces will tell.

Playfulness is at the heart of our process, as we layer contrasts—crisp and soft, classic andcontemporary, quiet and bold—to craft designs that pulse with energy and soul. We like to think of
our studio as a lab. With roots in Scandinavian design, our work reflects an elegant simplicity: cleanlines and crisp forms that feel effortless yet profoundly intentional.

For us, beauty lives in the details. It’s in the meticulous care we take to breathe life into every corner of our designs, creating spaces that resonate with both precision and vitality.

We infuse every project with radical optimism, believing in design as a force for good—uplifting lives, enhancing moments, and inspiring a brighter future. And through empathy, we connect deeply with the dreams and ambitions of those we design for, weaving their aspirations into spaces that are not only functional but profoundly moving.

To us, beauty is essential, and its power to transform is at the core of everything we do. At TOKO AMONG FRIENDS, we create designs that invite connection, inspire wonder, and leave a lasting impression—spaces where life’s most treasured moments find their home.

LINDA KORNDAL
FOUNDER & ARCHITECT AT TOKO AMONG FRIENDS

Linda Korndal is a Danish architect and designer known for her poetic and human-centered approach to space. With over 20 years of experience in international architecture and design, her work is driven by a deep curiosity about how our environments shape the way we live, feel, and connect.

Born in Denmark in 1982, Linda studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, where she now also teaches as a lecturer and researcher. Her academic and professional work are closely intertwined—both grounded in a belief that design should engage with life at every level, from grand architectural gestures to the smallest details.

Before founding her own studio in 2020, Linda spent six years as head architect at Norm Architects, where she helped shape a multidisciplinary practice that blended architecture, interiors, and product design. During this time, she honed a design language that is at once analytical and intuitive—combining structure with softness, clarity with emotion.

Her work is defined by a sensitivity to materials, light, and atmosphere. Whether designing a building, a room, or a piece of furniture, Linda approaches each project as a living, breathing entity—with its own character, story, and presence. She sees design as a quiet dialogue between people and the spaces they inhabit—an ongoing conversation that influences behavior, mood, and memory.

Linda has received widespread recognition for her thoughtful, research-led practice, including five consecutive nominations for Designer of the Year at the Danish Design Awards. Her work is often described as minimalist, but never cold—infused with soul, subtlety, and a deep respect for how design can enhance daily life.

At the heart of Linda’s practice is a simple question: What makes us feel at home? Her answer lies not in trends or surface aesthetics, but in timeless forms, tactile materials, and a design philosophy rooted in empathy, precision, and care.

OUR ORIGIN

Our name TOKO originates from the Japanese TOKO NO MA—a niche or alcove designed to provide a special space where treasured objects are placed. It’s a concept rooted in honoring what truly matters, creating a stage for appreciation, beauty, and meaning.

At TOKO AMONG FRIENDS, we draw inspiration from this idea, crafting spaces that give room for the things in life most treasured. Just as the toko no ma elevates what it holds, our designs celebrate the moments, moods, and connections that bring life its depth and richness. We create spaces that honor the extraordinary in the everyday—a reflection of the lives and stories they’re built for.
